What is Transmission mode ?
Transmission mode means transferring of data between two devices connect over a network
There are three type of transmission mode :-
- Simplex Mode.
- Half duplex Mode.
- Full duplex Mode.
- In this mode of communication data Can be sent only one direction. (Uni-directional)
- Such as Keyboard, Monitor, Loudspeaker etc
Half duplex Mode
- Each station can both transmit and receive. but not at the time is knows as Half duplex mode.
- When one device is sending , the other can only receive and vice versa.
- In a half duplex transmission, the entire capacity of a channel is taken over by whichever of the two devices is transmitting at the time.
- walkie talkies are both half duplex system.
- The Half-Duplex Mode supports a Bi-Directional flow of data but in one direction at a time.
- such as walkie talkies , one lane road etc.
Full duplex Mode
- Both stations can transmit and receive at the same time. Actually, it is two half duplex connections.
- Telephone network is an example of full duplex mode, when two people are communicating by a telephone line, both can talk and listen at the same time.
- The capacity of the channel, must be divides between the two directions.
- The Full-Duplex Mode supports a Bi-Directional flow of data in both directions at the same time.
- Such as telephone line, Mobile phones etc.
