Java is a class-based object-oriented programming language. It is the most popular programming language. It is a high level language ,platform independent language, robust, object-oriented and secure programming language.

History

Java is develops by James gosling in 1995 (first version) at sun microsystem. It is currently owned by Oracle, and more than 3 billion devices run Java. Government give sun microsystem a project in 1990-1991 to pair set-top box and television so it is convenient for users. Sun microsystem name the project as  Green project. Before Java, its name was Oak. Since Oak was already a registered company, so James Gosling and his team changes the name from Oak to Java.

  • Java is dual mode language means compile time it is compiler and run time it is interpreter.

  • Java is robust programing language.
  • Original Java has no IDE but it supports all ASCII text editor as its IDE for writing the program.
  • Java supports a lot of IDE provides by various companies such as NetBeans, eclipse, notepad++ etc.
  • Java is strongly type language.
    • strongly type language means capital letter should be capital and small letter should be small.
